TTD, Trim Technology Day, is a series of seminars and exhibitions which focus on trim components in garments. It is organized by 4 leading trim suppliers - Avery Dennison, Vilene, Gunzetal and YKK.

We believe that it is essential to arouse our quality awareness in order to keep the Hong Kong garment industry competitive in today’s global marketplace. Inside the swirl and profusion of new fashion ideas and technologies, it is necessary to keep ourselves abreast of the latest technical knowledge. Trim Technology Day aims at providing a platform to facilitate networking for specialists from buying houses, manufactures, and suppliers so that all can benefits from shared experiences.

The Trim Technology Day has entering into its 9th and it has been successfully launched in the past 10 years. The alliance of the 4 trim suppliers in Trim Technology Day may trace its history to 1999 when they were invited by a well-known US apparel maker to give presentations at the same occasion. The event provided an opportunity for them to discuss and share their own views towards our industry.

The 4 suppliers believed in the power of cohesion and understood the importance of sharing experiences in an environment which was supported by a solid technical background. This enthusiasm brought up the first TTD event on January 12, 2000 at the Clothing Industry Training Authority in Kowloon Bay. Encouraged by the positive response from the participants, the TTD organized a further 8 events over next few years. We are delighted to have learnt a lot from the experience and each time we have striven for continuous improvement in the event. In the recent year, Trim Technology Day has even been extended to China and the United States.

The event is organized by the leading supplier i.e. Avery Dennison, Vilene, Gunzetal and YKK. The high participation rate of the event with customers mostly coming from buying offices and manufacturers has witnessed the effectiveness of collaboration between professional bodies and technology providers.



The textile trade in this modern world is under intensifying competition, knowledge is the key to prosper and the Trim Technology Day is the optimum forum to bring together experts for a concerted effort to excel in garment making. In many instances, a lack of knowledge about the application of trims is the contributing factor of garment failure. Therefore, Trim Technology Day would be useful to arouse the awareness of manufacturers on the importance of sewing thread, button, label, interlining, zipper and buckle etc. and the correct method of using them in specific applications.
